Welcome to our April 2020 Praise Letter! Wendell, a bond-servant of Jesus Christ called to serve Him in the Philippines!     Grace, mercy and peace from God our Father and greetings from Jennifer my el spouse.

Just finishing the 6th week of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) here in Tarlac City and the subdivision of Rosmont Panampunan.  How are things with you?

We are still adjusting to this temporary situation.  I, for one, love routine so I am growing out of my comfort zone, trying to obey the laws of the National Government, city government, local barangay and those who run our subdivision.  At first, we were allowed to walk around go to the market and visit people but now we are told to stay in our homes, do not go out, do not walk around.

A police mobile was stationed at our Barangay Hall to make sure that the ECQ Rules and Regulations are strictly being implemented and that the people are obeying.

Many people whom Jennifer knows have been arrested and fined $100 for not obeying the ECQ rules and regulations.  When I was allowed to walk around my subdivision, I was given favor by the Lord, to pray for many people and lead 3 or 4 to Jesus using 1 Cor. 5:21.  I also saw three people healed and one man I was able to prophesy over him (1 Cor 14:1-3), the Filipino man was amazed that I knew his whole life!  His name is Angelo he did not want to take the free gracious gift the Lord is offering, but I think Angelo will put his trust in Jesus soon.

My Honeydoo List...

Please pray for a friend of mine named Ryan.  He has many questions about God, his life, and the future, yet holds to very religious traditions and thinking that hinders him from growing in the Holy Spirit.

Since I have so much time on my hands I was trying to finish my honeydoo list but lack the tools or the material to fix some broken gutters.  The rainy season is almost here…so I pulled a MacGyver and tried to fix the problems.   (See Pics below.) The problem is not totally solved but I would say 75% of the water is going down the pipes now and not into our garden nor house. :)

Since we are not allowed to go out yet, here are some photos we want to share with you which we took from the official website of Tarlac City Information Office.

Daily Online Worship

Daily our local church Tarlac First Baptist Church (TFBC) has a two-hour livestreaming service to encourage the people in quarantine, Jen and I try to listen to it every day.  Today, Bishop Frank spoke on training up a child the way they should live in a godly home. Bishop Frank said if the parents of the home do not live out grace, mercy, love and give a living example of what it means to be Christ-like, then teaching them the bible and taking them to cell group, youth group and church will not produce Christ-likeness in them.  I can say yes and amen to these truths. I have even seen this in my own home.  I do not like the dogs of our home nor the dogs of the neighborhood that bark all day and night to everything from people to cats, dogs toads.  It did not help that the Tagalog word for dog is “aso”, can you see where I am going with this?  My oldest step-son Gaius soon took on my attitude and verbal abuse of the dogs.  It is one thing for me to deal with my complaining and murmuring spirit but to put that into another person horrified me.  I quickly repented (changed my thinking) toward the dogs and how I spoke about them and to them. I also asked Gaius to forgive me and to change the way he thinks, treats and speaks to the dogs. Now the situation has not changed the dogs still bark day and night, but my heart is changing as to how I view the situation and how I react :)  Small victories are wonderful!

So our lives in the home and outside the home speak volumes to people around us.  I really believe our behavior impacts people more when they see us fail and then recover.  Then to display I have a perfect life all the time as I walk with Jesus via the Holy Spirit.  I am not advocating sin or failure!  I saying we can be REAL with our daily lives.

About 7 weeks ago I think it was the last time Jen and I were allowed to go food shopping together.  It seems we always go to the same food store, and also to the same checkout counter.  I told you I love routine. :) The lady who scans our food said to Jen "Mam every time I see your American husband, he is so full of life and cheerful. How come?"  She said, ”Well, he is crazy and also loves Jesus.”  Wow that was a wonderful way to see that my light is shining. Matt 5:16 and I did not even know it.  Jesus has come for us to ENJOY life everyday (John 17:3).  Yes, even in lockdown.  Yes, even when I do not like the asos LOL  The bottom line is, Jesus loved me a very long time before I even knew Him, He loves me now just as I am, growing in grace, faith, and lockdown.  Jesus is not disappointed in you or me, He is very hopeful that just today we will enjoy life, abide in Him and grow just a little closer to His likeness.

Our praises and prayer request:

Thank you all for praying! I am very thankful for those who financially support us even when they too are suffering the loss of income due to the Covid-19. Most of our supporters are self-employed.

Praise for the spiritual growth in our lockdown home and for those we prayed for and loved on here in our subdivision.

We are thankful for Jen's work has not been affected and is able to work even with the boys and I being at home 24hrs a day, 7 days week :)

Pray for the church planting team not to get discouraged, and that the lockdown here in the Philippines would end by May 1st.

We too have been praying for all of you and the world as a whole. I hope and pray in the coming weeks months we can take advantage of this epidemic and use it as a tool for the gospel and bring light and love to a hurting world.

Also a BIG thank you to those who sent us feedback on our praise letter :)

Again, we do pray for you…so send us your requests and we will pray more specifically for you.

In Christ,

Wendell and Jennifer Schultz
